Nairobi, Kenya - The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) hosted a three-day workshop for local Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) manufacturers. The workshop aimed to share insights from the World Health Organization Global Benchmarking Tool Audit of PPB, addressing its implications for Kenyan pharmaceutical manufacturers.

The workshop focused on:

• Insights from WHO Global Benchmarking Tool Audit of PPB
• Common deficiencies identified in baseline inspections
• Guidance on compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Quality management systems for pharmaceutical manufacturers
• Regulatory requirements for health products in Kenya
• Strategies for improving manufacturing standards

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board continues to play a crucial role as Kenya's National Drug Regulatory Authority, established under the Pharmacy and Poisons Act Cap 244 Laws of Kenya. The board regulates the practice of pharmacy and ensures the safety, quality, and efficacy of medical products and health technologies.

This initiative demonstrates PPB's commitment to strengthening Kenya's pharmaceutical manufacturing sector and ensuring that locally produced health products meet international quality standards. The workshop brought together manufacturers from across Kenya to enhance their understanding of regulatory requirements and improve compliance with GMP standards.

The PPB's efforts align with Kenya's Vision 2030 and support the country's goal of becoming a regional hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing in East Africa.
